Each year more than 3,500 people die in traffic crashes in Texas, and more than 350,000 are injured. Why? Because motorists are driving too fast, not paying attention behind the wheel, passing carelessly, driving drunk, failing to buckle up for every trip, and making a variety of other avoidable mistakes that lead to serious and deadly crashes.
For more than a decade, TxDOT’s Traffic Safety Section has used videos to show drivers how to drive safely and to call attention to the importance of knowing the state’s traffic laws and obeying them. Using an engaging question-and-answer format and advice delivered by state troopers and other safety experts, these short videos allow drivers to both test their knowledge about safe driving and learn what it takes to be a smart and safe driver.
